Frequestly Asked Questions (FAQ)
Product & Ingredients
Q: Is your dreadlock wax vegan and cruelty-free?
A: All of our products are cruelty-free — we never test on animals. Our dreadlock wax contains ethically sourced beeswax from Ontario beekeepers. While some vegans avoid beeswax because it is an animal byproduct, ours is harvested responsibly with no harm to bees or hives. Unlike mass-produced waxes, we only use local, sustainable, and ethically managed sources.
Q: Do you use natural ingredients?
A: Yes. Our products are made with simple, natural ingredients like organic coconut oil, sea salt, and essential oils. No harsh chemicals, no synthetic fragrances.
Q: Are your products safe for sensitive scalps?
A: Yes. Our formulas are gentle, breathable, and free from residue-causing fillers. If you have allergies, we recommend reviewing our ingredient list before use.
Product Use & Results
Q: Will your dreadlock wax cause buildup?
A: No. Our formula is designed to be residue-free. It washes out cleanly with regular shampoo, leaving locs healthy and breathable.
Q: Can I use your products on new and mature locs?
A: Absolutely. Our wax is excellent for starter locs (helps with palm rolling and new growth) and for mature dreads (controls frizz and helps with styling).
Q: How much product do I need to use?
A: A little goes a long way. Most customers find a jar lasts for months, even with regular use.
Q: What’s the difference between Light and Dark wax?
A:
- Light (Transparent): Works on all hair types and colors, especially lighter shades like blonde, red, or grey.
- Dark (Tinted with natural iron oxide): Blends seamlessly into darker shades like brown and black for a natural look.
Ethical & Sustainability
Q: Are your products eco-friendly?
A: Yes. Our wax is packaged in reusable glass jars, and we source our ingredients responsibly. By supporting local beekeepers and purchasing additional ingredients through Canadian companies, we ensure sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and support local communities.
Q: How is your beeswax different from big commercial brands?
A: Large-scale beeswax production can stress hives or involve harmful practices. Our wax comes from small-scale Ontario beekeepers, where wax is collected naturally and bees remain healthy. No hives are damaged, no bees are harmed.
Q: Do you purchase ingredients from Canadian suppliers?
A: Yes. Wherever possible, we purchase from Canadian companies. Our beeswax is fully local, while other ingredients like coconut oil are sourced through trusted Canadian suppliers who share our ethical standards.
Care & Maintenance
Q: How do I wash out your dreadlock wax?
A: Simply use our African Black Soap Bar or another residue-free shampoo. Because our wax is breathable, it rinses clean without buildup.
Q: Can I use your products alongside others?
A: Yes. Our wax pairs well with our Residue-Free Sea Spray and natural shampoos. If using other brands, just make sure they are sulfate-free and residue-free.
Q: How often should I reapply?
A: Most customers apply a small amount while palm rolling a couple of times a week for beginners and every 1–2 weeks after the baby dreadlock stage or as needed for styling and new growth.
