Dreadlock Services in Toronto — Private One-on-One Loctician Studio
Private, professional dreadlock services in Toronto, by appointment only.
Welcome to Dread Love Studio
Located in Toronto, Dread Love Studio is a highly specialized, private loctician studio offering one-on-one dreadlock services for clients who want experienced, thoughtful care. I’m a licensed hairstylist and barber with over 20 years of hands-on experience working exclusively with locs.
This is not a busy salon. Each appointment is private, unrushed, and focused entirely on you. Whether you’re dreadlock-curious, starting your first locs, or maintaining mature locs, I take the time to do the work properly and with care.

I specialize in new loc creation, dreadlock maintenance and repair, and human hair loc extensions. My work is always residue-free and tailored to your hair type, your goals, and how you actually live with your locs.

Custom dreadlock installations based on your hair texture, density, and the look you’re going for. I focus on clean sectioning and strong foundations so your locs age well over time.
- Hair assessment and preparation
- Clean sectioning and parting
- Crochet-based locking techniques (no interlocking)
Rate: $110/hour. Final cost depends on length, volume, and number of locs.
Dreadlock Maintenance & Repair
Regular maintenance keeps your roots tidy, your locs strong, and small issues from becoming bigger repairs later on.
- Root work and retightening
- Crochet maintenance and smoothing
- Minor and major repairs
- Resectioning and corrective work
- Support with buildup, breakage, or general loc concerns
Rate: $110/hour. Maintenance timing depends on your growth and preferences.

- Texture and color matching
- Careful installation designed to last
The same hourly rate applies to all services. Total cost is based on time.
Experience, Efficiency, and Value
I know hourly pricing can feel intimidating at first. What matters most is experience. With over two decades of focused loc work, I’m able to work efficiently without rushing or cutting corners.
That often means fewer hours are needed to get solid, long-lasting results — which saves time, stress, and money in the long run.
Long-Term Care, Not Constant Appointments
Think of this work as an investment rather than a recurring expense. After the initial creation phase, most clients only need maintenance about four times a year. Some come in even less often — every six months — depending on their hair and preferences.
Over time, this work naturally turns into long-term relationships. I genuinely enjoy seeing familiar faces return, catching up, and watching how people’s locs grow and change over the years.
There’s a mutual respect and trust that builds when you care for someone’s hair over a long period of time. Many of my clients have been coming back for well over a decade, and I’m always grateful for that kind of loyalty.
Products Made for Locs
Alongside my services, I create and sell a small line of residue-free loc care products made specifically for dreadlocks. These came from years of real-world experience and frustration with products that caused buildup or problems over time.
I use these products during appointments when they make sense, and clients can also purchase them to care for their locs between visits. You can view the full product line here: natural dreadlock products .
One example is my residue-free dreadlock sea spray , which I often recommend for light hold and texture without buildup.
